This past fall, I helped out with the creation and promotion of “Vote, People!” VP was an initiative we created in Studio 2058 to help guide Florida voters (specifically Alachua County residents) at the polls. Although we wanted to make a big impact, we never expected the amount of support that we received. During its inaugural year, two zines were created which included information about the Florida amendments on the ballot and everything to know about voting. These zines were handed out during the weeks before the election around campus and at off-campus events.

So many people told us that the information VP published was genuinely helpful for them, and it was awesome to interact with the community leading up to such a big midterm election. On election day, we passed out free pizza to people who wrote down the reasons that they voted. This was definitely an unforgettable experience and I hope that it carries on in the future.
