Florida man with a plan

Howdy! I’m Ryan, an Austin, TX-based copywriter originally hailing from sunny South Florida.

Admittedly, most of my days are spent throwing ideas at a wall. However, I do dabble in some other stuff too (as seen below).

Smoked Meat Sampler

As a Jewish person living in Austin, it’s hard not to be tempted by the pleasingly pungent scent emanating throughout the city: smoked brisket. In fact, a reference to the succulent meat is the only time I’m comfortable with the word “moist.” My quest to taste every piece of brisket within the city’s limits has taken me to Franklin Barbecue, Terry Black’s Barbecue, Micklethwait Craft Meats, Kerlin BBQ, La Barbecue, Black’s BBQ, Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ, and Stiles Switch BBQ. I promise I limit my red meat consumption to only once a week! Like many disciples of this beautiful art form, I adamantly believe Franklin BBQ – my personal favorite – is worth the hype.

Mrs. Maisel’s Extra

During a slow summer in between undergrad and grad school, I came across a casting call for the Miami shoot dates of Amazon Prime’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” As a fan of the show, I instantly submitted the closest thing I could find to a headshot. Somehow, I was selected as an extra. To be honest, getting to set at 4 am to eventually walk back and forth in the hot summer sun wasn’t always exciting. But, hey, I can now technically say I’ve shared a scene with George Costanza and Monk! To answer your question, no, I don’t have an IMDB page. Luckily, I haven’t let the fame get to my head.

Wannabe Chef

Yep, I’m the guy with the $20 cast iron skillet I would protect with my life. But as my initial culinary interests have developed into a full-blown hobby, I’ve ventured beyond the skillet to create a range of delicious dishes in a variety of vehicles. Besides creative work, nothing feels more fulfilling than making a delicious meal – especially one you get to share with others. My regular rotation of dishes includes Chicken Milanese Salad, Grilled Summer Vegetable Pizza, Mongolian Beef, and Pollo a la Plancha. As for the piles of dishes to clean up, that’s a whole other story.

Theme Park Historian

Growing up in Florida, it was easy to become entranced with the thrill of themed entertainment – especially when it came to two properties in particular: Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort. I promise I’m not a “Disney adult!” However, my passion for both history and pop culture has led to a continual interest in park history and news. Florida may not have any world-renowned historical monuments, but we have the “Vacation Kingdom of the World.” The Eiffel Tower is overrated anyway. My favorite ride? Hands down – Pirates of the Caribbean.
